Man in the cup
An upright figure with broader shoulders, often with a clear line of legs, reads as a male presence in your story: someone bringing a decision, an invitation, or an offer. A large, dark shape speaks of a person of influence; a thin, pale one, of an acquaintance still taking form. Turned toward the handle, this man is drawing closer to you; turned away, someone is staying quiet about what you'd like to hear.
Position changes the tone: nearer the rim speaks of what is close, nearer the bottom of what is further off; a clearer shape speaks louder than a faint one.
