Door in the cup

A rectangular opening in the grounds, with a clear frame, is the sign of a door — an opportunity standing before you and waiting to be opened. A door rarely speaks of a gift; it speaks of an invitation. Wide open, it means the entrance is free and easy; half-open, that it needs a push; closed, that you should wait a little longer.

Position changes the tone: nearer the rim speaks of what is close, nearer the bottom of what is further off; a clearer shape speaks louder than a faint one.
