Ring in the cup

A ring is recognized by its closed circle with a clean edge and speaks of a promise being kept — a bond, an agreement, a word that binds. Broken, with a visible gap, it doesn't announce misfortune but the end of an arrangement and the need to establish something anew. Right at the rim of the cup, the promise is close; at the bottom, it's waiting for its time.

Position changes the tone: nearer the rim speaks of what is close, nearer the bottom of what is further off; a clearer shape speaks louder than a faint one.
