Journey & change

Boat in the cup

A small hull with raised ends sails through the grounds as a boat — movement that relies on the current, not on your own strength. Turned toward the rim, it hints at an arrival, news, someone on their way; turned toward the bottom, it invites withdrawal. Either way, the boat is a reminder that stillness, too, counts as a journey.

Position changes the tone: nearer the rim speaks of what is close, nearer the bottom of what is further off; a clearer shape speaks louder than a faint one.
