Dog in the cup

A dog means loyalty — someone who stands by you even when you're silent. Turned toward the rim, it announces a friend on the way; turned away, it's a reminder of someone you may have neglected. Tradition also sees protection in it, quiet and dependable. It rarely appears alone, usually alongside other signs of home and family.

Position changes the tone: nearer the rim speaks of what is close, nearer the bottom of what is further off; a clearer shape speaks louder than a faint one.
